	Brothers and Sisters, By now many if not all of you have received your ballots for the Bylaw change. Reports from the field are positive but there are many questions and some confusion. Please ask your stewards or call the Union hall if you have questions. We are more than happy to clear up any confusion caused by rumors or misinformation. The Union is asking you to support the Bylaw change. For too long our treasury has been woefully under funded and many basic services had to suffer because of this. Funding for negotiations, arbitrations, organizing, and attorney’s fees had to be capped. Within the last year we have tightened are belts and streamlined or operations, but it’s not enough. We can’t fight the good fight with one hand tied behind our back. Negotiations will resume in Rockford shortly. I have been notified by WTVO’s attorney that the next time I visit the station they will pursue appropriate civil and criminal legal action for criminal trespass. After a good long laugh and contact with our district, I turned this over to our attorney. We have gone through our second Federal Mediation with WYCC. We brought our attorney to try and “break the log jam.” This seemed to work and we will be presenting those members with a new proposal for ratification shortly. WCEV talks will resume later this month or we will have to file an unfair labor practice. WGN has two Arbitrations to settle and ongoing negotiations. CBS negotiations will start in early August. WTTW will be experiencing “implosion” pains from recent buyouts. Other grievances will pop up. Meetings will happen. Attorneys will be needed. In short, you will be represented. This is what your money pays for. It’s not for raises, decadence, or misuse. It’s spent to represent you, make sure we have more than enough. Vote “accept” for the bylaw change.
